Figure out where the stress is coming from

Try to identify what causes your stress. Is it’s a specific problem at work, an upcoming exam, a dispute with your boss, a colleague that you can’t get along, a fight that is coming soon? By getting specific and pinpointing the stressors in your life, you’re one step closer to learn how to deal with that.

Are you leaving yourself vulnerable to stress?

If you’re not getting enough sleep or physical activity during the week, you may be leaving yourself extra susceptible to stress. When you’re sleep-deprived and sedentary, even the smallest stressors can have a huge impact. Also, sleep helps your body to restore energy reserves. If you’re not getting enough sleep, your body will use stress to keep you active and alert in the absence of stored energy.

Be responsible for the course of your life

Decide what you want and go for it! Always remember to manage your time well since the biggest of the stressors are the lack of it. The list of things that you have to do grows while time flies. To avoid this you have to establish boundaries. Learn to say no, those few seconds of discomfort are well worth avoiding the stress of taking on an extra activity or doing something that doesn’t bring any contribute to your life.

Don’t worry about the things you cannot change

Learn to accept things as they are and avoid negative thoughts, are important mechanisms to avoid stress. Don’t focus only in the bad things that happened during your day, embrace the good as well. Nothing else helps intensify stress more than negative thoughts.

Embrace mistakes

Learn to relax

Relaxing your body is a great way to reduce stress. Think of something calm, or think of nothing in particular. Let your body tell your mind that everything is okay.

Do what you love

It’s so much easier to manage stress when you have a life filled with activities you love. Even if your job is stress central, and you’re happy as a flight attendant, find one hobby or two that make you happy. Often when you’re stressed, you can spend some time doing your favourite activities.
